September always feels like the real new year to me — a fresh start, a chance to reset, and a moment to reflect before the end of the year. I look at it as my new year and still love an academic year diary!

I’ve never been a fan of resolutions for a new year. The play havoc with my anxiety and feel rigid, time-bound, and often set to focus on what we didn’t achieve rather than what we did.

Instead, I lean into intentions — flexible, ongoing, and rooted in hope. Life throws curveballs, and sometimes just getting through the day is a win. So why not set intentions that support you through the chaos?

Here are 2 simple ways to get things in order for the school year ahead:

🗂️ Declutter your digital and physical spaces — Clear out your inbox, tidy your workspace, and reset your calendar. A clean slate helps you think clearly and act intentionally.

🧭 Set 3 guiding intentions — Not goals, not tasks. Just three things you want to feel, focus on, or nurture this season. Write them down and revisit them weekly as a check in point.

My 3 guiding intentions - with how I hope to do them:

⚡ Sense of clarity on what is happening - cleaning up old reminders in the diary and laying out the new terms plan visually for everyone in the house to see and be able to action

⚡ Continue to help others through my work - time blocking some time to focus on my own business to help create more tools that will help busy parents

⚡Be present for myself and my family - even if it means scheduling some protected time in the diary so we don't overcommit - sound familiar

Let’s flip the mindset and celebrate what we do achieve — even if it’s just making it through the day with grace. 💜
